Physical Awareness & Checking Clinic

One of the largest deterrents to players continuing their hockey careers is the lack of knowledge surrounding physical contact. Learn to protect yourself as well as give appropriate, safe and effective physical contact.


Who should attend:

Any player looking to improve their physical play.

Ages -  Squirt players and above - players will be divided into age-appropriate groups.

  • Learn to receive and give a proper check

  • Checking through the hands (the "rub out") effectively at all levels

  • "Rub Out" - an effective hit that can be used legally at all levels of play to separate a player from the puck; the ideal hockey hit

  • Avoid & drive through hits with leg strength 

  • Taking hits to make plays

  • Spatial awareness 

  • Keeping eye on the play/puck during a check

  • Learn to reverse a check and protect from hits
